La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Chelsea is ‘prepared’ to activate Victor Osimhen’s release clause at the conclusion of the season.

The Nigerian forward granted an interview with CBS on Tuesday, stating that he has already made a decision regarding the ‘next step’ in his career for the end of the season.

In the printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday, on page 18, it is claimed that Napoli was left ‘surprised’ by Osimhen’s interview as it had not been coordinated with the club.

Gazzetta confirms Osimhen’s intention to depart Stadio Maradona at the end of the season and indicates that Chelsea is ‘ready’ to trigger his release clause in the summer, expressing an intention to ‘cover him in gold’ by offering a lucrative salary.

Osimhen recently extended his contract with Napoli until June 2026, with the new deal containing a clause in the range of €120-130 million.

According to Gazzetta, the clause is set at €130 million, and both Osimhen and his entourage advocated for its inclusion in the new contract to facilitate a move to a Premier League club in the summer.
