Nigeria’s coach, Portuguese José Peseiro, expressed regret that his team didn’t perform at their best level in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final against Ivory Coast, resulting in a loss on yesterday.
“We can talk about strategy, tactics, but the key point is that our team didn’t play at their level. We’ve had a fantastic tournament, but today (Sunday) Côte d’Ivoire were better than us. When that happens, what else can you say but bravo Côte d’Ivoire” he said.
The coach pointed out that the opposing team reacted fantastically to the goal they conceded, “they weren’t nervous at all”, unlike his team, who had felt the pressure of the game.
