On Thursday, Egyptian twins Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan were introduced as the new head coach and team director, respectively.
Hossam Hassan stepped in to replace Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria following a disappointing AFCON campaign, where the team was eliminated by DR Congo in the Round of 16.
Despite being seven-time African champions, Egypt failed to secure a single victory throughout the tournament hosted by Ivory Coast.
Hassan holds the distinction of being Egypt’s all-time leading goal scorer, having scored 68 goals to contribute to the Pharaohs’ three AFCON titles.
Prior to his appointment as Egypt’s coach, the 57-year-old amassed coaching experience with teams in Egypt and Jordan’s national team.
Before taking on the role of Egypt’s coach, he served as the tactician for Modern Future FC, a first division team. Additionally, he has managed teams such as Zamalek, Pyramids FC, Ismaily, and Masry.
His first challenge in his new role will be an international friendly against New Zealand in March.
