Ammouta recently guided the Jordanian team to their inaugural appearance in the AFC Asian Cup final.

Hussein Ammouta, the Moroccan head coach of Jordan’s national football team, hinted in a recent interview with a Moroccan channel that he is contemplating stepping down from his role due to family considerations.

In the interview, Ammouta mentioned that he plans to depart from the Jordanian squad once his contract expires in a few months. He emphasized the urgent need to reunite with his family in Morocco, particularly during a challenging period they are facing.

“It is true that I declared after the final match (between Jordan and Qatar in the Asian Cup) that I had difficult family situations in Morocco” Ammouta said, adding that he has “started negotiating his departure, which will happen in the three or four months to come, due to the need for me to be with my family.”

When questioned about potential coaching offers from teams other than Jordan, Ammouta stated that his contract with the Jordanian national team remains active and he has not entertained any offers since the conclusion of the AFC Asian Cup.

These remarks follow the recent Asian Cup, which took place from January 12 to February 10, where Ammouta guided the Jordanian team to their first-ever final in the country’s history.
