Argentina has rearranged its upcoming fixtures due to Lionel Messi’s absence, opting for matches against El Salvador and Nigeria in the United States instead of a tour to China.
The originally planned tour was canceled after Messi’s unavailability for the match during Inter Miami’s preseason in Hong Kong.
The Argentine Football Federation revealed that Argentina will take on El Salvador on March 22 at Lincoln Field in Philadelphia, followed by a match against Nigeria four days later at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
With Messi likely joining the squad, Argentina, the reigning world champions, will miss him for Miami’s Major League Soccer encounter against the New York Red Bulls on March 23.
Originally, Argentina was set to play Nigeria in Hangzhou and Ivory Coast in Beijing from March 18-26 as part of their tour of China.
