The simulation of a foul by Bruno Fernandes in the game Manchester United lost to Marco Silva’s Fulham on Saturday, 2-1, has drawn harsh criticism from fans, which has already been echoed in the English press.
At a time when the Red Devils were doing everything to score, the Portuguese midfielder shot with his left foot from outside the box, and with Sasa Lukic nearby, Bruno Fernandes complained about his left ankle with his arm in the air, seemingly asking for medical attention. But the referee did not signal anything, the game continued, and quickly the Portuguese player got back up.
“I’m usually a big fan of Bruno, but this is pathetic,” wrote one fan on social media. “Bruno Fernandes is embarrassing…,” another remarked.
Some even questioned the fact that the Portuguese wore the captain’s armband: “Manchester United should give the armband back to Maguire before they regret it.”
