Paul Pogba, the 30-year-old French international midfielder playing for Juventus, was suspended for four years this Thursday after testing positive in a doping control last September, during a match in which he didn’t even enter the field against Udinese on August 20th of last year.
According to the newspaper La Reppublica, this Wednesday, Paul Pogba was informed of his four-year suspension this Thursday due to this positive doping test, after being provisionally suspended since September.
At 30 years old, and with four years of suspension ahead of him, unable to play at the highest level, Paul Pogba might even end his professional career because by the time he resumes, he will already be 35, as his birthday is on March 15th.
The four-year suspension imposed was the maximum penalty requested by the prosecutors in the trial.
On August 20th, during the match against Udinese where the positive doping test was detected, Paul Pogba’s defense justified the result with a dietary supplement prescribed by a doctor in the United States.
Paul Pogba, an international player for the French national team 91 times and World Cup champion in 2018, began his career in France before joining Manchester United in 2009.
Unable to establish himself, he eventually moved to Juventus in 2012 and, four years later, Manchester United paid 105 million euros to bring him back. In 2022, he returned to the Bianconeri at no cost.
