Josuha Guilavogui, a Mainz player, expressed deep gratitude to referee Patrick Ittrich for his swift action during a Bundesliga match.
After suffering a head injury from a collision with teammate Anthony Caci, Guilavogui lost consciousness on the field as his airway was obstructed by his tongue. Ittrich quickly intervened, placing him in the recovery position and adjusting his tongue to restore his breathing.
Ittrich humbly remarked, “We must act quickly; there is no praise to be given.” Guilavogui, on Sunday, publicly thanked Ittrich, his teammates, and the Mainz medical staff for their prompt assistance.
“Thank you very much for the quick intervention and help provided, Patrick Ittrich, my teammates, and the doctors in Mainz.” Guilavogui wrote.
Despite the ordeal, Mainz’s loss to Bayern Munich with a score of 8-1, keeping them in the Bundesliga relegation zone.
