Raphinha shone with two goals in Barcelona’s victory over PSG (2-3) in the Champions League. He was voted the game’s MVP and described the occasion as the most important of his career, especially for scoring his first Champions League goal.
This was the first time Raphinha had scored more than one goal in a single game for Barcelona and also his debut in the club’s nets in a Champions League game. He also paid tribute to his idols, Neymar and Ronaldinho Gaúcho, by celebrating each goal in their honour.
He explained that when he saw Ronaldinho on the pitch, he felt compelled to greet him, and had already planned to celebrate like Neymar if he scored. That night was truly special for the player.
“I was warming up, I saw on the screen that he (Ronaldinho) was on the pitch and I went up to him to say hello. As well as being a great player, he’s someone I’m very fond of because of how close we are, so there was nothing fairer than going out to give him a hug. I’d already told my wife I’d celebrate with Neymar if he scored a goal here,” revealed the Barça number 11.
