Liverpool defender Andy Robertson emphasised the need for his team to avoid any more mistakes if they want to keep their Premier League title chances alive.
He made these statements after the shock 0-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace. The only goal of the game was scored by Eberechi Eze in the 14th minute, leaving Liverpool in third place on 71 points.
They are level on points with Arsenal, who were beaten 0-2 at home by Aston Villa. Manchester City currently top the table with 73 points, with six games remaining in the season. Liverpool also have a tough challenge in the Europa League. After losing 0-3 at home to Atalanta in the first leg of the quarter-finals, the team needs a remarkable comeback to advance in the competition.
“We need to be perfect from now on, that’s for sure,” Robertson told reporters. “We can’t afford to drop any more points and we’ll see what the other two teams (Manchester City and Arsenal) do. We have to stay positive. We‘re not going to stop fighting” he said.
“We have to lift everyone in the dressing room, because there are a lot of people who are down, whether they’ve missed a chance, wasted the ball or whatever. We’ll pick ourselves up, we’ll play again on Thursday and we’ll give everything we’ve got.”
Liverpool travel to Atalanta on Thursday before returning to league action against Fulham.
