Former Moroccan international Adil Ramzi (41 caps, 5 goals) is set to embark on a new challenge in the Netherlands, where he spent most of his playing career and began his coaching journey.
After a return to his homeland in 2023 for a half-season stint with Wydad Casablanca, the 46-year-old coach has decided to return to action! Starting from July 1st, he will indeed take charge of the Netherlands U18 national team. After coaching Jong PSV and assisting Mark van Bommel in the senior team, this marks a new challenge for the former midfielder.
“I am proud to have been given the necessary trust to work with the greatest talents of the Netherlands. We aim to perform well, which is of course crucial. Additionally, it’s a great opportunity for me, alongside Dutch clubs, to think about how we can make the most of our talents. I’m really looking forward to getting started,” said the former Atlas Lion upon his appointment.
“His personality will make the difference” according to Nigel de Jong
Nigel de Jong, technical director of the federation and former player of Manchester City and AC Milan, is also pleased with Ramzi’s arrival as coach of the Dutch U18 team. “We are happy that Adil is joining our team at the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association). I am confident in his coaching qualities and I believe his personality will make a difference for our national teams. We have a lot of confidence in a bright and prosperous future,” he said. However, Ramzi may face numerous dilemmas regarding dual-national players courted by both of his beloved countries!
