Coach Erik ten Hag, amid speculation about Bruno Fernandes’ future, has stated that the 29-year-old Portuguese international midfielder is happy at Manchester United and will remain with the Premier League club next season.
Ten Hag explained that Bruno Fernandes’ comments in a recent interview with DAZN were taken out of context. He expressed confidence that the player is happy at Manchester United, saying, “I know he’s from Manchester United and I think he’s very happy to be here.”
The Dutch coach stressed that he expects Bruno Fernandes to fulfil his contract, which runs until 2026, emphasising the player’s importance as a role model for the other members of the team. Ten Hag praised Fernandes’ ability to take responsibility, highlighting his determination and dedication, citing an example in which the player played with an inflamed ankle last year, demonstrating incredible willpower.
“Bruno is a good example for many other players. He’s a real fighter. Last year, when we played Brighton in the semi-final of the FA Cup, he played with an inflamed ankle. It was unbelievable. He couldn’t run, but he was still on the pitch. He’s always available, always delivers and always energises the team. You need this kind of asset to be successful” explained the coach.
