On Monday evening, Empoli’s center-forward (17th in Serie A and the first team outside the relegation zone with three games left), Mbaye Niang (29 years old, 12 matches, 4 goals, and one assist), was the protagonist of a road accident in Florence, Tuscany (Italy). According to Prima Firenze, the Mercedes in which the player and another person were traveling collided with several stationary vehicles: a van, then a car driven by someone else, before ending up crashing into the wall of a parish building and a fourth car.

Both men emerged unscathed, according to several Italian media outlets. However, no information has been disclosed about the driver. Nevertheless, the former great hope of French football (U21 international three times) is expected to be available for Sunday’s match against Lazio (36th round).

Mbaye Niang is no stranger to trouble this year. On February 20, his SUV had already collided with two parked cars without causing injuries, still in Empoli. Earlier in his career, while playing for Montpellier (2014), he was sentenced to three months of suspended prison after a spectacular crash that saw his Ferrari crash into a tree. In 2016, at AC Milan, he collided with two parked cars on the roadside. This time, he had to stay away from the pitch for two months. In short, between Mbaye Niang and cars, it’s not always a love story.
