Carlo Ancelotti expressed his satisfaction with Real Madrid’s impressive turnaround at a press conference after the dramatic game against Bayern Munich.
“It’s something inexplicable, the magic of this club and the fans who push in a fantastic stadium. These are players who never stop believing that they can do something magical. When you put this shirt on, you feel something special. The players have had a season that nobody expected. I didn’t expect this group to be able to do this either. Reaching the final is a success, whatever happens” he said.
He went on to talk about the impact of club president Florentino Pérez and the hero of the night, Joselu, who scored the brace that sealed the Whites’ passage.
“There’s a captain called Florentino Pérez and we’re all sailors. He’s been able to create this generation of players who have achieved many things so far and we hope to win another Champions League. Joselu is a fantastic reflection (of what Madrid is) because he’s contributed a lot. He hasn’t had many minutes. He’s a reflection of what this squad is, he hasn’t lost confidence and the idea that he could contribute to the team” he added.
“The fans made the difference. It seems to be a habit for us to do this in this stadium. We’re very happy to play in our stadium with this atmosphere”, he said, before talking about Vini Jr.
“Very few players can do what he did in this semi-final, and now we have a final in which he’ll be the star. What he did in the first leg and the second leg of this semi-final is something you don’t see very often”, he said.
