The name of Hubert Velud’s successor at the helm of the Burkina Faso Stallions is finally known!

To succeed the Frenchman, it was understood that the Burkinabè Football Federation (FBF) would appoint a local coach. The question remained as to who exactly it would be. And it will not finally be Oscar Barro, who was announced as the favorite in recent days! Indeed, this Monday, the FBF officially announced the appointment of Brama Traoré, assistant to Paul Put during his tenure as head coach of the national team between 2012 and 2015.

A former midfielder for the Stallions (29 caps, 2 goals), this 50-year-old coach was until now the coach of the national U20 and U23 teams. With the under-20 team, he had a respectable run in the West Zone B tournament of the WAFU Cup. He also won the silver medal with the Stallions U20 team at the last Francophonie Games held in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Ten days before his big debut!
Brama Traoré was introduced on the morning of Monday, March 11, 2024, by Lazare Banssé, president of the FBF, during a press conference. He will make his debut as head coach of the national team on March 21 against Libya in Morocco. A friendly match that will be followed by a second one on March 25 against Niger. The fifty-year-old will try to bring a new breath to the Stallions, eliminated in the round of 16 of the last AFCON against Mali (1-2) after finishing 4th in the previous edition under the command of local coach Kamou Malo.
