Marc Brys is set to become the new head coach of the Cameroon national team. His appointment doesn’t come from the Cameroonian Football Federation but from the Ministry of Sports. Amidst tensions between the two parties, the Belgian coach arrived in the country Sunday night along with his assistant Joachim Mununga.
Immediately upon landing, Brys was besieged by a throng of journalists to whom he shared his first words. “I am very excited! I would like to start already, and we are ready to set things in motion. I was very satisfied with the selection process. It was very professional. This Monday, the Antwerp native will go through the preliminary reading of his contract, followed by its signing, before holding his inaugural press conference.
He Wants to Meet Eto’o!
According to Belgian media outlet La Dernière Heure, Brys aims to meet with Samuel Eto’o, the president of Fecafoot, to ease tensions. As a reminder, the former Barcelona player deems his appointment illegal, and Fecafoot asked him on Saturday to present three candidates within 72 hours to appoint his own coach. In this explosive context, it remains to be seen if the former striker will agree to meet with the Belgian coach…
