After Ghana’s premature exit from the Africa Cup of Nations, Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as the team’s coach.
The Ghana Football Association made the announcement on Tuesday, confirming the decision in response to the team’s elimination.
“Chris Hughton has been dismissed from his role as the head coach of the senior national team with immediate effect” announced the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The executive council has additionally decided to disband the technical team of the Black Stars.
Ghana faced a challenging start in Group B, suffering a defeat to Cape Verde in their opening game, followed by two drawn matches against Mozambique and Egypt, both concluding with a 2-2 scoreline.
“The Ghana Football Association has announced that it will soon unveil a roadmap outlining the future direction for the Black Stars,” confirmed the GFA.
Chris Hughton assumed the role after succeeding Otto Addo following the 2022 World Cup.
