Present in the kingdom for the 2024 Futsal CAN final between Morocco and Angola this Sunday, Gianni Infantino, the president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), lauded Moroccan football.
“Morocco has established itself as a global power in football, not only on the field and in terms of sporting results, with the historic qualification of the Moroccan team for the Qatar 2022 World Cup semi-final, but also as a host of several major events,” said the FIFA president to the press upon his arrival on Sunday at Rabat-Salé International Airport to attend the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) final, which will see Morocco face Angola on Sunday evening (8:00 PM). Regarding this final, the 54-year-old leader emphasized that “Morocco plays an important role as a host country,” while also praising the “exceptional” organization.
“As we approach the 2030 World Cup, we know what Morocco knows and can do.”
Morocco is a football country. And Gianni Infantino won’t say otherwise. “I feel right at home. It’s football that dominates, breathes, and vibrates in this country. That’s what I love, so I’m really happy to be here,” he said. The man at the helm of FIFA since 2016 also mentioned the organization of the 2030 World Cup, which will take place in the land of the Atlas Lions as well as in Spain and Portugal.
“As we approach the 2030 World Cup, we know what Morocco knows and can do. We are proud to be part of this great team here in Morocco to participate in these future challenges that will change the image of football in the world thanks to Morocco,” said the former UEFA general secretary.
