The Red Devils’ defeat leaves them out of continental competition. Copenhagen won 1-0 to advance to the last 16 of the Champions League.
Manchester United, with Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot starting, lost 1-0 at home to Bayern, who had Raphael Guerreiro on the bench. In a game with little history, the Red Devils had more control of the game, but Bayern were creating more danger through quick counter-attacks. It was in the second half that the score changed, with Coman scoring the first and only goal of the game after a great pass from Harry Kane. Manchester United are now out of European competition.
In the match that decided second place in Group A, Diogo Gonçalves’ Copenhagen got the better of Sérgio Oliveira’s Galatasaray. Victory guaranteed passage to the last 16 of the Champions League and it was the Danes who, with a goal in the 58th minute, countered the Istanbul side’s attacking impetus to reach the next stage of the competition. Lucas Lerager, who scored the goal, was sent off in the 90th minute, but it didn’t affect the result.
