Nantes received devastating news as Moses Simon will miss the remainder of the season due to a fractured fibula sustained during Nigeria’s 2-0 loss to Mali.
The injury occurred from a late tackle by Mali’s goalkeeper, forcing Simon off the field in the 30th minute. Nantes expressed support for Simon, emphasizing his absence will impact crucial Ligue 1 matches.
His form has been instrumental, with three goals and five assists in 22 games, making his absence a significant setback for the relegation-battling team. Coach Antoine Kombouare will miss Simon’s versatility in both attacking and defensive roles as Nantes fights to avoid relegation.
“Last night, shortly after half time, during the friendly match between Mali and Nigeria, Moses Simon suffered a serious injury while representing the Super Eagles.”
“Following a collision with the Malian goalkeeper, Moses Simon was quickly taken off the pitch on a stretcher. The Nantes striker was immediately transported to hospital for further treatment. Subsequent medical examinations revealed a fractured fibula. Unfortunately, his absence is estimated to be several months. Nantes is committed to offering its full support to the striker and wishes him a speedy recovery”, it read.
