O guarda-redes do Bayern de Munique refletiu sobre o erro que cometeu durante o jogo contra o Real Madrid no Santiago Bernabéu, que acabou custando a sua equipa, apesar de estarem em vantagem no marcador até à reta final do jogo.
“It’s very bitter for me” Manuel Neuer told DAZN. “I expected the ball to land a little differently on my chest. It was higher than I thought and I had a hard time catching it. Then Joselu came quicker” he explained.
“For a goalkeeper who’s been here as long as I have, it’s not something new, I’ve been there before. But that goal was a big blow”, admitted the 38-year-old goalkeeper.
The German team led 1-0 in the 88th minute and were virtually through to the final. The goal allowed Real Madrid to level the score at 1-1 and Joselu made it 2-1, with the Santiago Bernabéu on fire and Bayern Munich losing heart.
Thomas Tuchel particularly regretted that Neuer had such a difficult time, especially after having been impeccable, constantly being a wall for the recent LaLiga champions.
“Manu did incredibly well, but then he made a mistake that he would never have made in 100 years. It’s frustrating. If anyone doesn’t deserve it, it’s Manu” said the former Chelsea coach.
