Otto Addo is returning to coach Ghana’s men’s national soccer team for a second term after Borussia Dortmund granted him release from his talent development role at the season’s end.
Addo previously served as interim coach for Ghana in 2022, including the World Cup in Qatar, where Ghana secured a victory against South Korea but exited in the group stage. He resumes his role under a 34-month contract, extendable for two years, ensuring his presence at least until the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup, as per the Ghana Football Association’s Facebook announcement.
Expressing gratitude, Addo views the coaching opportunity as a privilege, having gained extensive experience during his interim tenure.
At Dortmund, Addo functions as a “talent coach” nurturing budding talents like Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho.
Dortmund agrees to release Addo at season’s end, permitting him to lead Ghana in upcoming friendlies, as was the case during his interim stint in 2022.
A former Bundesliga winner with Dortmund and a Ghana World Cup player in 2006, Addo’s versatile experience enhances his coaching prowess.
