After Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Monday, Paul Scholes and Michael Owen expressed their opinions on Erik ten Hag’s tenure as the club’s manager.

Scholes said that the team’s performance that night was like “the final nail in the coffin” for Ten Hag. He highlighted the team’s lack of skill and effort as disappointing aspects and suggested that Ten Hag will probably not have another season in charge of Manchester United.

For his part, Michael Owen, who played for Manchester United from 2009 to 2012, believed that the club’s board should make a quick decision and sack Ten Hag before the end of the season, especially with an FA Cup final against Manchester City at stake.

Ashley Young, a former defender at the club, also expressed concern about the team’s performance, describing the state of the defence as “chaos”. He emphasised that if Manchester United continue to put in performances like that, they are unlikely to win their next games.

With only three games left in the season, including clashes against leaders Arsenal and sixth-placed Newcastle, Manchester United face a challenging situation to secure a place in European competition next season.
