Alejandro Garnacho made the difference in Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday, creating both penalties with skilful dribbles into the box.
The United winger has started every game since the end of October, emerging as a player that coach Erik ten Hag can count on, with a consistency that belies his age.
“He’s progressing very well and we’re very pleased with that” said Ten Hag.
“His contribution today (Saturday) was huge, his runs, his dribbling. It’s also attractive to the public, obviously we want to show something. I think the penalties were deserved” he added.
Ten Hag believes that Garnacho will continue to improve.
“What’s important is that he keeps his concentration and tries his hardest, both in the game and during the week. Sometimes it’s difficult for young players because they’re inexperienced… but I think he’s capable, when he keeps this concentration, this attitude, of improving from game to game, and that’s what we’ve seen at the moment” analysed the Dutchman.
“With young players, you always have to tell them, this is my experience, that during the week you have to work very hard in training sessions, in meetings, you have to be focused to be able to perform at the weekend.”
The Argentinian international, who only turns 20 in July, has five league goals to his name this season. If Garnacho’s youth translates into more pressure from the coaching staff, Ten Hag won’t mind.
