Cameroon’s football federation expressed “great astonishment” upon discovering that the sports ministry had appointed Marc Brys as the new coach of the national team. Brys replaces Rigobert Song, whose contract ended after the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.
Samuel Eto’o, a football icon, leads the national football federation.
In a statement, the federation noted that it learned about the appointment simultaneously with the public and criticized the unilateral decision, emphasizing that it violates the terms of Decree No. 2014/384 regarding the organization and operation of national football teams.
The federation aims to investigate this matter further to clarify the situation.
Under Song’s leadership, the Indomitable Lions advanced to the round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations.
