Title leaders Real Madrid are preparing for the challenge of the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals against Bayern Munich, with former Bayern player David Alaba and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois included in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
Both are back from injury, with Alaba recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in December, and Courtois returning after a meniscus problem in March, following an earlier anterior cruciate ligament injury last summer.
While Alaba is out due to injury, he will still travel to his former club as per the coach’s request, to maintain team cohesion. Ancelotti has selected 23 players for the clash, including German internationals Toni Kroos and Antonio Rüdiger, in a match that promises to be exciting given the coach’s history with the Bavarian club.
